The Nigerian Army has announced the start of applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for commissioning as officers.

The announcement, shared on the Nigerian Army’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, stated that the programme is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who possess relevant professional qualifications.

According to the Army, successful applicants will be commissioned into specialised corps where their expertise will be deployed to support national defence and internal security operations. The available corps include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps.

The Army clarified that the application process is completely free and must be completed online through its official recruitment portal. The application window will open on January 7 and close on February 4, 2026. Applicants are advised to apply early and ensure that all information submitted is accurate to avoid disqualification.

For further assistance, the Nigerian Army provided recruitment help lines  08179269294 and 08109959294, which will be active daily between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Detailed application guidelines and requirements are also available on the official recruitment website at recruitment.army.mil.ng.

The Nigerian Army encouraged eligible Nigerians with the required skills and professional background to take advantage of the opportunity to serve the country through the DSSC programme.
