Nigerian pedicurist Olusanya Samuel is preparing for a 48-hour pedicure marathon in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the longest pedicure marathon by an individual.

The attempt is scheduled for October 29 to 31, 2026, in Akure, Ondo State.

Samuel, an Anatomy graduate of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, said the event would showcase opportunities in Nigeria’s beauty and wellness industry while promoting awareness of foot care and hygiene.

His journey into the profession began during his second year at university, when he started learning manicure and pedicure techniques. Over more than five years, he developed the skill into a business focused on professional foot care.

Samuel said studying anatomy strengthened his understanding of the human body and helped shape his approach to his work.

He also hopes the attempt will encourage young Nigerians to learn practical skills and explore business opportunities while pursuing their education.

According to him, building a business as a student showed that young people can create employment through dedication to a skill.

Organisers said the event would include live entertainment, food, drinks and free pedicure sessions for attendees.

Through the marathon, Samuel hopes to draw wider attention to Nigeria’s personal care industry and inspire others to turn their skills into opportunities.
