NIGERIAN NAVY WARNS PUBLIC OVER FAKE BATCH 39 RECRUITMENT NOTICE

The Nigerian Navy has warned members of the public against a recruitment notice circulating on social media and falsely claiming to announce the commencement of its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise. The service said the publication was not authorised and should not be treated as an official announcement, urging prospective applicants to disregard information about the exercise obtained from unofficial sources.

The Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday. He advised prospective recruits and other members of the public to exercise caution when encountering recruitment information on social media platforms, websites and other channels that are not officially connected to the Nigerian Navy.

According to Folorunsho, genuine information concerning Navy recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and available categories, would only be released through the service’s authorised communication channels. The warning comes as the Navy continues to provide recruitment-related information through its official platforms, with the service urging applicants to verify any announcement before taking action.

The Navy also cautioned members of the public against making payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms claiming to facilitate recruitment into the service. It stressed that applicants are not required to pay third parties for recruitment and that the Nigerian Navy does not authorise individuals or agents to recruit candidates or collect recruitment fees on its behalf.

Folorunsho reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and providing accurate information to prospective applicants. He urged anyone interested in joining the service to verify recruitment announcements through the Nigerian Navy’s official platforms and avoid acting on unconfirmed notices that could expose applicants to fraud.
