The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has projected a combination of sunny, cloudy, and rainy weather conditions across various parts of the country from Monday through Wednesday.

In a weather forecast issued on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet stated that the northern region will experience mostly sunny conditions with patches of clouds in the morning hours.

According to the agency, by afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are expected in parts of Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kebbi, and Kaduna States.

“For the central region, clear skies with occasional clouds are expected in the morning,” the forecast noted. “Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms and moderate rainfall are likely over Plateau, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kwara, Nasarawa, and Niger States.”

In the southern region, the agency anticipates cloudy skies with morning showers around Akwa Ibom. This will be followed by thunderstorms and light to moderate rain in areas such as Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Delta, Ekiti, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

For Tuesday, NiMet expects light rain and thunderstorms in parts of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, and Jigawa, while other northern states will see a mix of sunshine and cloud patches in the morning.

Moderate rainfall is anticipated later in the day across Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, and Bauchi States.

In the central region, morning thunderstorms and light showers are expected in FCT, Benue, Niger, Kwara, Plateau, and Kogi, with continued thunderstorms and moderate rains later in the day.

Southern states will start Tuesday with cloudy weather, transitioning into thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall in the afternoon and evening, especially in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Edo States.

By Wednesday, morning thunderstorms with light rain are forecast for Kebbi, Zamfara, and Sokoto, while other parts of the North will have sunny intervals with cloud cover.

The day will end with moderate rain expected across Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kano, and Kaduna States.

For central states, sunny skies are expected in the morning, followed by thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall later.

The southern region is forecast to have a cloudy morning, with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening.

NiMet advised the public to take safety precautions, noting that strong winds may precede thunderstorms. The agency urged residents to secure loose items, avoid driving in heavy rain, disconnect electrical appliances during storms, and stay away from tall trees to prevent accidents from falling branches.

Airline operators were also advised to request localized weather information from NiMet for safe flight operations. The agency encouraged the public to stay updated by visiting www.nimet.gov.ng.
