NITDA TO LICENSE TECH FIRMS FOR SOFTWARE TESTING SERVICES
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced plans to introduce a licensing framework for technology companies involved in software testing as part of efforts to improve quality standards in Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
The agency said the move will help ensure that software products developed and deployed in the country meet required standards for security, reliability, and performance.
According to NITDA, regulating software testing firms will strengthen accountability, encourage professionalism, and provide businesses and consumers with greater confidence in locally developed digital solutions.
Technology experts welcomed the initiative, noting that proper software testing is critical as more organisations adopt digital platforms across sectors such as banking, healthcare, education, and government services.
They added that a structured licensing system could create new opportunities for certified technology firms while improving Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global software industry.
NITDA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting innovation, strengthening digital trust, and creating a safer technology environment through policies that promote quality, compliance, and industry growth.
