Nigerian actress Nkechi Blessing has shared details of a recent dating encounter that left her questioning how some men behave during the early stages of getting to know someone.

She narrated the experience in a lengthy Instagram video, explaining that she suddenly stopped chatting with a UK-based man she had been talking to. According to her, he reached out afterward to ask why she went silent, unaware that she had just been involved in a minor accident that damaged two of her car tyres.

When she informed him of what happened, he simply asked if she was fine and ended the conversation shortly after. Nkechi said his response felt dismissive, especially coming from someone who claimed to be interested in her.

She clarified that she was not expecting financial assistance, but she believed he should have shown more concern or at least offered support. She later replaced the tyres herself.

Hours later, he messaged again asking if she had resolved the issue, and she told him she already bought two new tyres. That moment, she said, further confirmed to her that he lacked the kind of initiative and care she expects from someone trying to build a serious connection.

To highlight the difference, Nkechi compared his attitude to that of a male friend in Abuja. She said she mentioned to this friend that she had work in the city, and without being asked, he immediately offered to sort out her hotel accommodation. Even when she attempted to handle it on her own, he insisted on taking responsibility. She described this as the kind of thoughtful gesture that shows genuine care.

Nkechi explained that she values her independence deeply, but she also believes that a man should be willing to step up when it counts. For her, it is not about depending on someone financially, but about knowing that the person is ready to show effort.

The actress ended her story by saying she has no interest in dating a man who cannot demonstrate that he can take good care of her. She also mentioned that she is currently single and chatting with more than one person as she figures out what she truly wants.
