The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said its nationwide protest against rising insecurity across the country is already producing positive results, following a prompt response from the Federal Government.

Speaking on Thursday, the Chairman of the NLC, Kano State Chapter, Comrade Kabiru Inuwa, said the protest successfully drew national attention to the worsening security situation.

“The protest was conducted successfully. The message was delivered across the country, and we believe it has been fruitful,” Inuwa said.

He noted that the seriousness of the action was demonstrated by the swift response from the Presidency.

According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu invited labour leaders for discussions in the early hours of Wednesday.

“Because this was a call to action, the authorities responded. In the early hours of Wednesday, President Tinubu invited the labour leaders, and a very fruitful discussion was held,” he stated.

Inuwa added that an action plan to address the security challenges was already being developed.

“The plan to tackle the menace of insecurity is already in the pipeline,” he said.

The NLC had on Wednesday staged a nationwide protest to express concern over the increasing cases of kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes across the country.

The congress said the protest was aimed at compelling governments at all levels to take urgent and decisive measures to protect lives and property.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
