NNL SLAMS GOMBE UNITED WITH N2.5M FINE OVER CROWD VIOLENCE
The Nigeria National League (NNL) has imposed a fine of N2.5 million on Gombe United following incidents of pitch encroachment, harassment, and intimidation of match officials by the club’s supporters.
The league body stated that Gombe United violated several regulations, including failure to provide adequate security and effectively control their fans.
The incident occurred during Gombe United’s matchday seven clash against Jigawa Golden Stars at the Pantami Stadium on Sunday. The match was abandoned in the final minute due to the disturbance.
As part of its ruling, the NNL ordered that the remaining one minute of the fixture be played behind closed doors at the New Jos Stadium in Jos.
The sanctions include a N2 million fine for supporters’ misconduct, while an additional N500,000 is to cover transport logistics and accommodation for Jigawa Golden Stars.
Gombe United have been given until January 9, 2026, to pay the fine or risk forfeiture of three points to Jigawa Golden Stars.
