NNPC Acts Swiftly After Viral Video Exposes Attempted Fraud at Lagos Fuel Station

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Retail Limited has dismissed a pump attendant and suspended a station manager following an alleged attempt to defraud a customer at one of its outlets in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The incident came to light after a video showing the pump attendant’s misconduct surfaced on social media, sparking public outrage. In a statement released on Friday, NNPC Retail condemned the act, describing it as “completely unacceptable” and contrary to the company’s values of integrity, transparency, and quality customer service.

Following an internal investigation, the company announced a series of disciplinary actions:

Immediate termination of the pump attendant’s employment.

Suspension of the station manager.

Formal warning issued to the dealer overseeing the station.

NNPC Retail praised members of the public for their vigilance and encouraged customers to promptly report any similar incidents using the official customer service numbers and email displayed at all NNPC fuel stations.

The company reiterated its commitment to upholding ethical standards and ensuring that customers receive the full value of their purchases.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
