NNPP URGES OPPOSITION ALLIANCE TO UNSEAT ADELEKE IN 2027
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun State has reiterated its willingness to partner with other political parties to unseat Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming 2026 governorship election.
In a statement signed by the state chairman, Tosin Odeyemi, and released in Osogbo on Tuesday, the NNPP expressed its readiness to rally behind any credible candidate with a strong chance of victory, urging opposition parties to unite behind a common goal.
However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dismissed Odeyemi’s call, asserting that no serious political organisation would align with the NNPP, which it described as lacking a viable structure in the state.
Reacting further, the PDP’s spokesperson, Oladele Bamiji, described Tosin Odeyemi’s approach as a one-man show lacking the influence to attract meaningful political support.
In contrast, Odeyemi maintained that no single individual or party could secure victory in the forthcoming governorship election without forming alliances. He called for a well-structured coalition among opposition forces to effectively challenge and end Governor Adeleke’s administration.
“Propaganda has taken over governance in Osun State and no elder statesman is bold enough to challenge the sitting governor. 2026 gubernatorial election is very crucial to us in Osun.
“Findings have revealed that a strong personality can win this election. There are individuals whose integrity will command votes even from other parties.
“If such individuals who cut across opposition parties in the state clinch the ticket, I can boldly say that 40 per cent of votes will come from PDP and this will bring parties and voters together to speak with their votes.
“No party or individuals can win the forthcoming election without joint efforts and that’s why NNPP will field or support any candidate with integrity to unseat Adeleke,” Odeyemi said.

He further said that the focus of all stakeholders should be on the need to rescue the government from those running it presently, noting that, “Fortunately, many people are now realising that politics goes beyond propaganda, they are abandoning their parochial party for other parties in the state.”
But Bamiji, who said people of the state are still comfortable with Adeleke and would support him in another poll, added, “Odeyemi should perish the thought of raising opposition against our performing governor.
“He can say anything, but the reality is that Osun State Governor is still loved by the majority, having accomplished so much since coming on board.
“So, tell him not to waste his time and little resources fighting against God and the good people of Osun regarding the next governorship poll.”
