Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has sent a playful warning to former teammate Lionel Messi ahead of their upcoming clash in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 on Sunday.

Messi, now with Inter Miami, previously played alongside Hakimi during his stint at PSG.

The two sides are set to face off this weekend in what promises to be an intense last-16 encounter.

In a chat with ItalPress, Hakimi reflected on their shared history but made it clear that friendships won’t matter once the match begins.

“It will be great to see Messi again – we shared many memorable moments,” Hakimi said, as quoted by 101 Great Goals. “But once we’re on the pitch, there are no friends. He’ll be out to win, and so will we. We’ll give it our all to reach the next round.”
