NORTH-WEST APC ENDORSES TINUBU FOR 2027, GRANTS GOVERNORS AUTOMATIC TICKETS
The re-election campaign of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received a major boost as the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in the North-West zone formally endorsed him as their sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. This decision was reached during a high-level meeting held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall in Kaduna, themed “Consolidating on Our Gains, Facing the Future Together.”
At the meeting, the APC governors in the North-West were also offered automatic tickets to seek re-election in the next gubernatorial elections. The endorsement motion was moved by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and seconded by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris. Kaduna State Governor and APC North-West Coordinating Governor, Uba Sani, had called on Abbas to make the motion, which was unanimously adopted through a voice vote by attendees.
National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, both affirmed that the presidency in 2027 is non-negotiable for the party, declaring there would be no vacancy in Aso Rock. Senator Jibrin, addressing the stakeholders, referenced the popular chant, receiving strong support from the gathering, and expressed confidence in a sweeping victory for the party in the coming election cycle.
A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and read by Governor Sani reiterated the zone's loyalty to the APC and its support for President Tinubu’s leadership. The statement commended Tinubu’s administration for improvements in regional security, which have allowed displaced communities to return and farmers to resume agricultural activities. It also praised the president for including the zone prominently in federal appointments, infrastructure development, and national policymaking.
The event saw the attendance of several political heavyweights, including governors, federal ministers, lawmakers, and former officeholders from the zone. Notably present were the governors of Kaduna, Jigawa, and Kebbi, while Katsina and Sokoto were represented by delegates. Other notable figures included former Governors Ahmed Yerima, Adamu Aliero, and Mahmud Shinkafi, as well as former House of Representatives Speaker, Bello Masari.
The meeting demonstrated the North-West APC’s unified backing for President Tinubu’s second-term bid and the continuity of leadership within the region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
