The Northern Senators Forum has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, on his 70th birthday. The lawmakers described the monarch as an important figure whose leadership has contributed to peace, unity and stability in Nigeria.

The senators praised the Sultan for his years of service and his efforts to promote peaceful coexistence among Nigerians. They highlighted his role in encouraging dialogue and understanding across religious, ethnic and regional lines, particularly during periods of tension in the country.

The lawmakers also recognised the Sultan's influence within the Muslim community and his efforts to promote responsible leadership. They said his experience and commitment to national unity had made him an important voice in discussions concerning peace and development in the country.

The Northern Senators Forum joined other political, religious and traditional leaders in celebrating the milestone, describing the Sultan's 70th birthday as an opportunity to reflect on his contributions to society. The monarch, who was born on August 24, 1956, became the 20th Sultan of Sokoto in 2006.

The senators wished Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar continued good health, wisdom and strength to carry out his responsibilities. They also expressed hope that he would continue using his position to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and national development.
