NRS GENERATES N21.6TN IN SIX MONTHS AMID TAX REFORMS
The Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) has generated N21.6 trillion in the first six months of 2026, marking a significant achievement amid ongoing tax reform initiatives.
The figure, disclosed by NRS Chairman Mr. Zacch Adedeji, reflects improved compliance, expanded tax nets, and the impact of digitalisation efforts. Adedeji attributed the strong performance to the successful implementation of reforms aimed at simplifying the tax system and reducing multiple taxation. “These results show that our reforms are working. Nigerians are responding positively to a fairer and more efficient system,” he said.
The revenue boost is expected to provide additional resources for infrastructure, social programmes, and debt management. Analysts have welcomed the development as a positive sign of fiscal improvement.
The NRS has pledged to sustain the momentum through continued stakeholder engagement and technology-driven solutions.
