The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested three suspects over alleged vandalism and theft involving a public facility in Anambra State. The arrests were made by operatives of the NSCDC as part of efforts to protect government infrastructure and prevent criminal activities targeting public assets.

The suspects were reportedly apprehended in connection with the alleged removal of items from the affected facility. The NSCDC said the arrests followed intelligence and surveillance activities aimed at identifying individuals involved in the vandalism of public property, with the suspects now assisting investigators in establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The command said it would not allow criminals to destroy or steal public infrastructure, noting that such acts deprive communities of essential services and place additional financial pressure on government. Facilities belonging to government agencies and other public institutions remain vulnerable to vandalism, particularly where valuable equipment and materials are left without adequate protection.

The NSCDC is expected to continue its investigation into the case, including efforts to determine whether the arrested suspects were acting alone or as part of a wider criminal network. The agency will also seek to establish what was allegedly stolen from the facility and trace any other individuals who may have participated in the operation.

The development comes as security agencies intensify efforts to protect public infrastructure across the country. The NSCDC urged residents to provide useful information about suspicious activities around government facilities, stressing that community cooperation remains important in preventing vandalism, theft and other crimes against public property.
