The Abia State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Gladys Adama, has urged members of the 2025 Batch 'A' Stream II to approach their national service year with discipline, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility toward national development.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the orientation programme at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Umunna, Bende Local Government Area, Mrs. Adama warned corps members against engaging in communal disputes, reckless financial habits, and night travel.

She emphasized the need for vigilance and integrity, cautioning the corps members to avoid any conduct that could endanger their lives, derail their service goals, or tarnish the image of the NYSC. Instead, she encouraged them to be agents of positive change and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Mrs. Adama commended the corps members for their discipline, endurance, and dedication throughout the three-week orientation exercise. She noted that the values and skills acquired during the programme would guide them through the service year.

Highlighting the importance of respecting cultural norms, she called on corps members to integrate peacefully into their host communities and promote unity in diversity.

“This phase of your journey requires alertness and a strong moral compass. Avoid anything that puts your safety at risk, including misconduct, night travel, and irresponsible financial behaviour,” she warned.

She also urged corps members to take full advantage of the post-camp Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to build on what they have learned for long-term self-reliance and economic empowerment.

Finally, she advised corps members to report directly to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) upon receiving their posting letters and to inform their local government inspectors before making any trips.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
