NYSC, UNN DISOWNED EX-MINISTER UCHE NNAJI’S CERTIFICATES, ICPC WITNESS TELLS COURT
A witness for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has told a court that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), disowned certificates linked to former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji.
The testimony forms part of legal proceedings concerning questions surrounding Nnaji’s academic credentials. The witness’s account places the authenticity and verification of the documents at the centre of the case.
The NYSC and UNN are key institutions in verifying claims relating to national service and academic qualifications. Their responses to requests for confirmation could therefore be significant in determining whether the documents presented by an individual accurately reflect records held by the institutions.
The ICPC, which investigates corruption and related offences, is pursuing the matter through the judicial process. Evidence presented by its witnesses is expected to help the court assess the allegations and determine the relevant facts.
The proceedings also highlight the importance of accurate academic and professional records, particularly for individuals appointed to public office. Questions about qualifications can have implications for public confidence, accountability and the standards expected of public officials.
However, testimony presented during a trial represents evidence for the court to evaluate. The ultimate determination will depend on the full evidence, arguments from the parties and the court’s findings.
The case is expected to continue as the parties address the issues raised in court. Further proceedings may clarify the circumstances surrounding the disputed certificates and their role in the allegations against the former minister.
