OBI CUBANA CELEBRATES EX-LAGOS HAWKER EKUMA JEREMIAH AS HE GRADUATES WITH LAW DEGREE
Nigerian businessman and socialite Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has celebrated former Lagos hawker Ekuma Jeremiah after he successfully earned a law degree.
Jeremiah first rose to fame in January 2022 after a viral video showed him handing out money to inmates inside a Nigerian Correctional Service vehicle in Ajah, Lagos. The act of kindness touched millions across the country and earned him widespread recognition, including support from Obi Cubana, who later awarded him a scholarship.
Reflecting on Jeremiah’s journey, Obi Cubana revealed that when financial support and lucrative opportunities were offered to him, Jeremiah turned them down to focus on completing his studies at Ebonyi State University.
Sharing the update via Instagram on Monday, Cubana praised Jeremiah’s determination:
“On January 19, 2022, when opportunities were placed before you, you chose education! You made the best choice. Today, you are a 2025 law graduate.”
He commended Jeremiah’s foresight, noting that while short-term comfort was within his reach, his decision to prioritize education has now positioned him for greater opportunities.
From selling goods in Lagos traffic to becoming a lawyer, Jeremiah’s story has become a powerful symbol of resilience and the transformative power of education.
Obi Cubana ended his tribute with an inspiring message:
“Congratulations Jerry, the world is yours!”
