The Ogun State Government has approved a weekly day off and a ₦10,000 monthly transport allowance for civil servants for three months starting April 2026.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, following approval by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

According to the statement, the measures are intended to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices and increasing transportation costs affecting workers across the state.

Civil servants will be granted one day off work each week, while also receiving ₦10,000 monthly as transport support during the three months.

However, essential workers such as medical personnel, teachers, judicial staff, and security operatives are exempted from the weekly day-off arrangement but will still receive the transport allowance.

The government said accounting officers in ministries and agencies will determine the specific off-days to ensure continuity of public service delivery.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
