OGUN COMMISSIONER DENIES 2027 DEPUTY GOVERNOR AMBITION
The Ogun State Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Dapo Okunbadejo, has dismissed reports claiming he is being considered as a running mate in the state’s 2027 governorship race.
In a statement on Monday, Okunbadejo described the claims as “misleading and entirely false,” saying he has not held any discussions or shown interest in the position of deputy governor.
He stressed that his focus remains on his current role in the state government, where he is involved in fiscal and economic reforms.
“I am fully committed to my responsibilities as Commissioner for Finance,” he said, urging the public to ignore unverified reports.
The clarification comes amid political realignments within the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, following the reported adoption of Senator Solomon Adeola (popularly known as “Yayi”) as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for 2027.
Party leaders had earlier endorsed Adeola during a strategic meeting attended by key political figures in the state, intensifying early political discussions ahead of the elections.
