OGUN PDP CHIEFTAIN DECLARES FOR SENATE
An Ogun State chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Giwa Odulana, popularly known as Ajirotutu, has declared his intention to contest for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Odulana announced on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting at the PDP Ward 3 Secretariat in Itantebo, Ijebu-Ode.
He said his decision to enter the race was motivated by the need to improve the standard of living in Ogun East through effective representation and quality lawmaking.
According to him, the senatorial district needs youthful and energetic leadership capable of driving a generational shift and accelerating socio-economic growth across the nine local government areas in the zone.
“I have come here today to say that I will be running for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2027. There are definitely lapses in governance in the senatorial district, whether in education, health, job creation for our youth, and good roads, among other areas, begging for attention,” he said.
Odulana criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress, saying residents deserve better governance.
“Definitely, the APC has been quite disappointing, and this cannot continue in 2027. It is time to allow the youth to go out there and do things differently so that everyone will know that things are truly changing,” he added.
He promised inclusive representation if elected, with a focus on welfare, empowerment, and infrastructure.
“If I get the needed support and you send me to the Senate in 2027, we shall not leave anyone behind. It is going to be inclusive governance that places the welfare of the people, empowerment of women and youth, and infrastructural development above parochial interests,” he stated.
Odulana also said his professional background in engineering and estate development has prepared him to tackle infrastructure challenges and promote development in the district.
He pledged to prioritise education and youth empowerment if given the mandate.
Speaking at the event, the PDP State Vice Chairman, Otunba Ayinde Awobadejo, welcomed Odulana into the race and assured him of a fair and transparent process.
Awobadejo described the PDP as the best alternative for Nigerians and urged members to continue mobilising support ahead of the 2027 elections.
