OLABODE GEORGE SLAMS WIKE OVER SEALING OF PDP NATIONAL SECRETARIAT
Chief Olabode George, a senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and member of the party’s Board of Trustees, has condemned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the recent sealing of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.
Speaking in an interview with Arise Television on Monday, George described the action as a betrayal and an insult to the party that, according to him, played a central role in building Wike’s political career. He called the sealing of the secretariat "sacrilegious, unacceptable, and culturally inadmissible," stating that it was both disrespectful and politically dangerous.
George compared the move to a man shutting down his own family house over an issue that could have been resolved easily. He questioned the necessity of such a drastic step over a debt of seven million naira, a sum he said Wike could have easily covered.
He went on to remind the public that Wike had risen through the ranks of the PDP, having been a local government chairman, chief of staff, two-term governor of Rivers State, and Minister of State — all positions he said were made possible through the platform provided by the PDP.
George also raised concerns over potential bias, urging authorities to investigate whether similar standards are being applied to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He suggested that the APC headquarters in Abuja could be facing similar issues and accused Wike of singling out the PDP for political reasons.
He said the timing of the action, just hours before a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, made it appear deliberate and malicious rather than a routine administrative procedure.
The closure of the PDP secretariat has sparked outrage within the party and deepened internal tensions, with many members seeing it as a calculated move aimed at disrupting party activities.
