OMORINSOLA BABAJIDE TARGETS FIRST WAFCON TITLE WITH SUPER FALCONS
Super Falcons forward Omorinsola Babajide has expressed her determination to help Nigeria regain dominance in African women’s football.
The team, under the guidance of coach Justine Madugu, is aiming to reclaim the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title they lost to South Africa three years ago in Morocco.
Nigeria has been drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria for the 2024 edition of the tournament.
Babajide is one of 11 players making their WAFCON debut with the Super Falcons. The former UD Tenerife striker shared her aspirations ahead of the competition, which kicks off this weekend in Morocco.
“My personal goal is to make my debut and contribute as much as I can to the team’s success — whether through goals, assists, or overall performance. I’m really hoping to win my first senior silverware,” she said in an interview with the team’s media.
The Super Falcons will open their campaign for a record 10th title against Tunisia in Casablanca on Sunday.
