ONANUGA: PETER OBI LACKS ORIGINAL IDEAS, NO MATCH FOR TINUBU
The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has criticized former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, describing him as lacking original and authentic political thinking.
Onanuga made the remarks during a political commentary, where he compared opposition figures with the current administration’s leadership style. He argued that President Tinubu possesses a deeper and more strategic understanding of governance, especially in economic and political decision-making.
According to him, Obi’s policy positions often reflect borrowed ideas rather than independent frameworks, insisting that the former Anambra State governor has not demonstrated sufficient capacity to match Tinubu’s political experience and leadership depth.
The presidential aide maintained that Nigeria requires leaders with proven administrative and strategic ability, adding that the current administration is focused on long-term reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy and strengthening institutions.
His comments have generated mixed reactions, with supporters of the government backing his assessment, while Obi’s supporters dismissed the statement as political rhetoric aimed at discrediting opposition voices.
Political observers note that such exchanges are becoming more common as the country gradually moves closer to another election cycle, with key political figures and allies increasingly engaging in verbal sparring.
As debates continue, attention remains on how both the ruling party and opposition will shape narratives around leadership, governance, and national development in the coming months.
