ONDO APC ASPIRANTS RAISE ALARM OVER ALLEGED PLAN TO DISRUPT PRIMARIES
Several aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have raised the alarm over what they describe as a plot to disrupt the party’s upcoming primaries.
The aspirants claim there is a deliberate plan by some powerful individuals within the party to manipulate or cancel the primaries in order to impose preferred candidates. They warned that any attempt to rig or disrupt the process could cause serious crisis in the party ahead of future elections.
In a joint statement, the aspirants called on the national leadership of the APC to closely monitor the situation in Ondo State and ensure the primaries are free, fair, and transparent. They stressed that party members should be allowed to choose their candidates without interference or intimidation.
Some of the aspirants said they have gathered credible intelligence showing moves to hijack delegate lists, disrupt screening exercises, or create confusion on the day of the primaries. They appealed to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the state APC leadership to guarantee a level playing field for all contestants.
The Ondo State chapter of the APC has been facing internal tensions for some time. Many believe the primaries will be tough, especially as different blocs and interests continue to struggle for control of the party structure.
Party officials are yet to respond officially to the claims made by the aspirants. However, the national APC has repeatedly said it wants peaceful and credible primaries across all states.
The concerned aspirants have urged all party faithful to remain calm while calling on security agencies to provide adequate protection during the primary exercise to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
This latest development adds to the growing anxiety within Ondo APC as the party prepares for its internal elections.
