A former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele, has called on fellow aspirants within the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prioritise the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking from Akure, Akindele stressed the need for unity among party members, noting that personal political ambitions should not come at the expense of a collective goal. According to her, while individual aspirations may be negotiable, the President’s second-term bid must remain a shared priority for all stakeholders.

She described Tinubu’s re-election as “non-negotiable,” warning that internal divisions within the party could weaken its chances in the upcoming elections. Her message comes at a time when political activities are beginning to intensify ahead of 2027, with aspirants positioning themselves across various levels.

Akindele also revealed that party stakeholders in Ondo State are aiming to deliver at least one million votes for the President, a target she says will require discipline, cooperation, and sacrifice among party members.

Beyond the numbers, her appeal highlights a broader strategy within the APC maintaining party cohesion while preparing for a competitive electoral cycle. She emphasized that internal contests should strengthen the party rather than divide it, urging members to align where it matters most.

As Nigeria gradually moves closer to the next general elections, calls like this underscore the importance of unity, strategy, and long-term planning within political parties aiming to retain power.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
