ONDO MAN STABS 25-YEAR-OLD TO DEATH OVER N14,000 DEBT
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Wale Ibrahim for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old man, Fisayo Ajetumobi, to death during a dispute over a N14,000 debt.
The tragic incident happened on September 13, around 6:30 p.m., at a construction site in Litaye Camp, Ondo East Local Government Area.
According to a police spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, Ibrahim had gone to the site to demand N14,000 from one Gabriel Oyeniran for wood he had previously sold to him. What started as a heated argument quickly escalated, leading Ibrahim to pull out a knife.
“In the process, the suspect, Wale Ibrahim, stabbed one Fisayo Ajetumobi, who was at the scene, inflicting a fatal wound on his chest,” Ayanlade said.
The victim died instantly, while the suspect was immediately subdued and handed over to the police. Investigations have since been concluded, and Ibrahim has been charged in court for prosecution.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, described the killing as a “senseless and avoidable act of violence.”
He urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands and instead resolve disputes peacefully through legal means.
“The police remain fully committed to safeguarding lives and property in Ondo State. We call on members of the public to continue assisting us with timely and credible information that can help in preventing crime,” CP Lawal stated.
