ONDO NEW CP ASSUMES DUTY
The Ondo State Police Command has announced that Felix Ohagwu has officially assumed office as the 47th Commissioner of Police in the state.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Akure by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.
Ohagwu took over from Adebowale Lawal following his recent redeployment by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
According to the statement, the reshuffling forms part of the IGP’s efforts to strengthen internal security and improve policing operations across the country.
The command described the new commissioner as an experienced officer with an extensive background in crime prevention, intelligence-led policing, public safety management, and operational coordination.
“The new CP is a seasoned and highly experienced officer with an outstanding record in crime prevention, intelligence-led policing, public safety management, and operational coordination,” the statement read.
It added that Ohagwu had served in several operational, investigative, and administrative roles across the country during his more than three decades in the Nigeria Police Force.
The command said the new commissioner distinguished himself through professionalism, discipline, dedication, and leadership throughout his career.
Speaking after assuming duty, Ohagwu pledged to strengthen the existing security framework in Ondo State while prioritising the protection of lives and property.
“I assure residents that the command, under my leadership, will combat crimes and criminality through proactive policing strategies, robust intelligence gathering, community engagement, and strategic partnerships,” he said.
He also promised to sustain collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to improve public safety across the state.
“We will also sustain collaboration with other security agencies, and relevant stakeholders will be leveraged on,” he added.
Ohagwu further appealed to residents to continue supporting the police and other security agencies with timely and credible information capable of preventing crime and enhancing security.
