The Ondo State Police Command has successfully rescued a 26-year-old woman who was kidnapped in Owo and arrested four suspects linked to the crime.

The victim, Miss Ogechi John, was abducted on June 8, 2026, at a filling station along the Emure–Akure Expressway by armed men who arrived in an ash-coloured Toyota Camry before speeding away.

Following a distress call, the police immediately launched a joint operation involving Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and vigilante groups. Security teams quickly secured major routes around Owo and began searching nearby forests and escape paths.

The breakthrough came when officers discovered the suspects’ abandoned vehicle hidden in a bush in Ojana, Owo. Further intelligence-led investigations led to the arrest of four suspects: Friday Shola, Friday Monday, Osho Joseph, and Lawal Mariam.

Police investigations revealed that one of the suspects allegedly connected the abandoned vehicle to a herbalist identified as Lawal Lucky, who is currently on the run and being sought by authorities.

Most importantly, the intensive search and sustained pressure from security operatives resulted in the safe rescue of the victim. She is currently receiving care and support following her ordeal.

Speaking on the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, praised the officers and other security partners for their professionalism and quick response.

He reassured residents that the police remain committed to making Ondo State unsafe for criminals and urged members of the public to continue providing useful information that can help fight crime.

The Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being intensified to arrest other suspects connected to the kidnapping.

The successful rescue highlights the importance of cooperation between security agencies and local communities in tackling crime and ensuring public safety.
