ONUACHU TARGETS HISTORIC GOAL RECORD AS TRABZONSPOR HOST RIZESPOR
Paul Onuachu will be aiming to strengthen his place in Trabzonspor’s history when the club face Caykur Rizespor at Papara Park on Saturday.
The Nigerian striker has scored 39 goals in all competitions for the Black Sea Storm and is closing in on a significant milestone. One more goal would move him up the club’s all-time list of highest-scoring foreign players, leaving him behind only former Georgia international Shota Arveladze and fellow Nigerian Anthony Nwakaeme.
Arveladze holds the record with 85 goals for Trabzonspor, while Nwakaeme scored 51 during his time with the club.
Onuachu is also chasing another achievement — becoming the foreign player with the most league goals for Trabzonspor in a single season. Arveladze currently holds that mark with 25 goals in the 1995/96 campaign, while Alexander Sørloth scored 24 during the 2019/20 season.
The Nigerian forward heads into the match in outstanding form, having scored in seven consecutive league games and in nine straight matches across all competitions for Trabzonspor. ⚽
