ONYEDIKA EXPLAINS HIS TWO-GOAL HEROICS AGAINST UGANDA
Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has shared how he scored twice in Nigeria’s 3-1 victory over Uganda in their final Group C match at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The Club Brugge star struck twice in the second half at the Fez Stadium, earning the Man of the Match award.
Onyedika credited teammate Samuel Chukwueze for setting up both goals, noting that the combination was something they had practiced in training.
“It’s exactly what we train for. You have to make a decision in seconds, and today I was in the right spot,” he said. “I know Samuel really well. Every time he dribbles, he looks for the first person and cuts back. I try to stay in that position, and today it worked perfectly.”
Reflecting on his award, Onyedika said it was the result of years of hard work.
“This is the moment I’ve been working for my whole life, and I’m really happy it finally happened,” he said.
Nigeria topped Group C with nine points, advancing to the next round of the tournament.
