Nigerian boxing star Elizabeth Oshoba has kicked off 2026 ranked fourth in the world in the super lightweight division, moving up one place in the latest BoxRec rankings released this week.

The 26-year-old WBC Silver Featherweight champion now trails only the United States’ Alycia Baumgardner, Belgium’s Delfine Persoon, and Australia’s Mea Motu in the updated global standings.

Expressing gratitude for the milestone, Oshoba credited her progress to faith and hard work while setting her sights higher.

“I’m grateful to God for this achievement, but I’m not stopping here,” she said. “My focus is on breaking into the top three and eventually becoming number one. With dedication and consistency, I know it’s achievable.”

The undefeated boxer boasts an impressive professional record of nine wins, including five knockouts, and remains confident about her upward trajectory.

“Every fight brings me closer to my goal. I’m ready to face anyone in the top three and prove that I deserve to be at the very top of this division,” she added.

Oshoba’s steady rise follows an outstanding 2025 campaign and builds on her historic feat in January 2024, when she became the first female Nigerian boxer to win a world title. She claimed the WBC Silver Featherweight crown after knocking out Italy’s Michela Braga in the 10th round at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medallist is currently ranked ahead of Spain’s Jennifer Miranda. Baumgardner tops the rankings with a 17–1 record, followed by 40-year-old Belgian veteran Persoon (50–3) and Australia’s Motu (23–1).

In addition to her current ranking, Oshoba also holds the IBO female super-featherweight title, which she secured via unanimous decision against Italy’s Martina Righi in November 2023.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
