Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has declared he is prepared to return to action for their pivotal Super Lig match-day 14 encounter against rivals Fenerbahçe on Monday.

The forward has been sidelined for the last two matches after sustaining a hamstring injury while on international duty with Nigeria.

Galatasaray had confirmed two weeks ago that Osimhen had begun treatment following a scan for the injury he picked up during Nigeria’s defeat to DR Congo in the final of the 2026 World Cup African play-off.

Although no exact recovery timeline was provided, the striker is expected to be fit for the derby, having missed the league game against Genclerbirligi and the UEFA Champions League home defeat to USG.

According to Turkish journalist Mehmet Özcan, Osimhen has told his teammates he is willing to take a risk and give his all on the pitch.

“I know the importance of the Fenerbahçe derby and its meaning for the fans. I experienced this excitement last season. This club invested in me for such big matches. If necessary, I will take risks and go out on the field to give 100 per cent,” Osimhen said in quotes revealed by Forza Cimbom.

Having missed the match-day squad in the last two games, it remains to be seen whether he will be declared fit for the derby.

Galatasaray, with 32 points, currently lead the Super Lig table by a single point over their rivals.

During his loan spell at Galatasaray last season, Osimhen faced Fenerbahçe three times, scoring twice in a 2-1 cup victory and providing an assist in a 3-1 league win last September.

The 26-year-old has netted three goals in nine league appearances this season and nine goals in 12 games across all competitions.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray permanently in the summer after a successful loan from Napoli in the 2024/25 season, during which he scored 37 goals in 41 appearances.

The derby is typically intense, and Turkish reports indicate that 16,000 security personnel will be deployed for the match.
