Victor Osimhen has returned to Nigeria after suffering an injury during Galatasaray’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool FC in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash at Anfield on Wednesday.
The Nigerian forward sustained the injury in the early stages of the match following a collision with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté. Despite the impact, Osimhen continued playing through the first half before being substituted.
Subsequent medical examinations confirmed that the striker suffered a fracture in his right forearm. His arm has since been placed in a cast, and he is currently being monitored while awaiting further assessment.
A decision regarding possible surgery will be made after the swelling subsides. Should surgical intervention be required, Osimhen is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks.
The potential absence is a significant blow for Galatasaray, as the forward could miss key Super Lig fixtures, including matches against Trabzonspor, Kocaelispor, and Gençlerbirliği. His recovery timeline also puts his availability for the crucial clash against Fenerbahçe on April 26 in doubt.
Osimhen was not included in the Super Eagles squad for upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan in Antalya, Turkey. His trip to Nigeria had been scheduled prior to both the injury and the squad announcement.
The former African Footballer of the Year has endured a challenging season in terms of fitness, having missed several matches across domestic and European competitions.
Despite these setbacks, Osimhen has remained highly influential, recording an impressive contribution of 26 goal involvements this season, including 19 goals and seven assists.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
