Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has rejected claims by The Osun Masterminds (TOM), a coalition of civil society organizations, accusing his administration of neglecting governance as the 2026 governorship election approaches.

In its November State-of-the-State address, delivered by Executive Director Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, the group alleged that the government had abandoned key responsibilities in pursuit of political advantage.

Oyedokun-Alli stated that governance in the state has experienced significant setbacks, noting that the governor has been scarcely visible or vocal as preparations for next year’s election intensify.

He also criticised the delayed recruitment of teachers, describing it as a broken promise disregarded by the administration.

The group further highlighted concerns over what it termed a leadership crisis within the Osun Amotekun Corps, arguing that the security outfit’s reduced effectiveness comes at a risky time amid rising insecurity nationwide.

While acknowledging that 2026 is an election year, TOM insisted that the government must continue to fulfill its mandate until the end of its tenure.

“It is unacceptable to sacrifice governance on the altar of political expediency,” the group said, urging state officials to prioritize public service.

Responding through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke dismissed the allegations, describing TOM as a group funded by the APC and motivated by hidden agendas.

Rasheed accused Prof. Oyedokun-Alli of distorting facts, noting that his recent political ambitions, including an unsuccessful bid to join the South West Development Commission, had compromised his objectivity.

“Governance in Osun is running smoothly, and those obsessed with 2026 politics are the sponsors of TOM,” the statement said.

CC, urging citizens to remain vigilant against groups using civic platforms for personal gain.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
