The Osun State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) has arrested nine suspects for crimes ranging from livestock theft and burglary to the defilement of minors.

The arrests were confirmed in a statement by the Corps’ spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu Abass, on Thursday in Osogbo, on behalf of the Commander, Isaac Omoyele.

In Ipetu-Ijesa, Oriade LGA, a 56-year-old ex-convict, Ayo Akinpelu, was caught stealing two goats. The stolen animals were discovered hidden inside his Lexus SUV after residents raised suspicions. Akinpelu confessed to being involved in goat theft for over seven years, admitting that he used the animals for pepper soup at his beer parlour in Ondo State.

In Oluponna, Olaoluwa LGA, two suspects—Sodiq Adeshina (30) and Kareem Marouf (25)—were arrested for stealing electrical appliances and cables worth over ₦450,000 from an uncompleted building. They confessed to planning to sell the items in Iwo.

The Corps also apprehended multiple suspects for sexual crimes against minors. Elijah Olawale (26) of Ijebu-Ijesa confessed to raping his 9-year-old daughter. Similarly, ThankGod Friday (26), a labourer in Modakeke, was arrested for raping his employer’s 12-year-old daughter, while Adeleke Sodiq (60) of Ode-Omu was caught sexually assaulting a 6-year-old child after luring her with money.

In another operation, three suspects—Ayo Akanni (22), Bamiwo Sogo (18), and Bamiwo Israel (18)—were arrested in Ilesa for a series of burglaries at Atakunmosa Market. Stolen items, including electronics, household goods, building materials, and provisions worth millions of naira, were recovered.

Amotekun Commander Omoyele assured residents that the Corps will not relent in its fight against crime.

“Criminals have no hiding place in Osun. All suspects are in custody and will be prosecuted,” he said.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
