Ilesa, Osun State – May 27, 2025

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke over what it describes as the poor execution of developmental projects under his administration.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC accused the Adeleke-led government of a careless and ineffective approach to governance, particularly in the area of infrastructure development. The party described the administration’s reported achievements as misleading and unworthy of public praise.

The APC singled out the ongoing road construction at the University of Ilesa (UNILESA) as a glaring example of poor project delivery, claiming the work is of extremely low quality and visible even to non-experts.

“Unfortunately, the trend of misgovernance by the PDP-led administration has now extended to UNILESA, a university established by former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, who currently serves as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy,” the statement read.

The party also referenced the recent road project in Aduragbemi, Ido-Osun (Egbedore Local Government Area), which it claims was washed away by rainfall just a day after completion, pointing to what it called the state government’s disregard for construction standards and project supervision.

“These examples reflect the broader pattern of waste and incompetence that has defined Governor Adeleke’s tenure. Instead of planning strategically, the government appears to be running state affairs on impulse,” Olabisi stated.

The APC further alleged that many contractors awarded these projects are loyalists of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who are taking advantage of the governor’s limited administrative expertise to carry out substandard work and siphon public funds.

“This is the consequence of a government whose leader not only lacks administrative depth but also insists on personally overseeing the critical Ministry of Works, a role that demands technical knowledge and consistent oversight,” the statement continued.

The party urged the contractor handling the UNILESA road project to return to the site immediately and complete the job to proper standards in line with global best practices.
