OSUN PDP SUMMONS STAKEHOLDERS OVER INTERNAL SQUABBLES
Osun PDP Moves to Quell Crisis as Faction Passes "No Confidence" Vote
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State is taking swift action to address a brewing crisis within its ranks, following a "vote of no confidence" purportedly passed on some of its prominent leaders by a faction in the Ife Federal Constituency. The state leadership has cautioned all members to suspend any activities that could escalate the conflict and has summoned the stakeholders to a meeting to resolve the issue.
In a statement issued by the Osun PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the party reasserted its confidence in Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi and PDP Board of Trustees member Prof. Wale Oladipo, referring to them as "pillars of the party." Bisi warned that any complaints or disagreements against them must be handled through the party’s established internal mechanisms, not through public declarations or unilateral actions.
The crisis reportedly stems from a meeting where some party bigwigs from Ife Federal Constituency expressed their disapproval of the leadership of the Deputy Governor and Prof. Oladipo. This is believed to be part of a larger power struggle ahead of the 2026 governorship election, with some leaders pushing for the Deputy Governor to be replaced.
Bisi's statement stressed that the PDP is guided by clear rules and procedures, and any attempt to undermine the party's authority will not be tolerated. He urged all parties involved to "sheath their swords and embrace peace" for the sake of party unity and stability. The meeting called by the state chapter is a crucial step to address the grievances amicably and reinforce discipline within the party before the conflict spills over and affects the party’s reputation in the state.
