The Police Command in Osun State has launched a new Violent Crime Response Unit and constituted a civilian committee to strengthen security operations across the state.

The initiative is aimed at improving rapid response to violent crimes and enhancing collaboration between security agencies and members of the public in Nigeria.

According to the police authorities, the new unit will focus on tackling armed robbery, kidnapping, cult-related violence, and other serious criminal activities reported in different parts of the state.

The command said the creation of the unit is part of ongoing reforms designed to improve operational efficiency and ensure faster response to emergency security situations.

Alongside the unit, a civilian committee has been set up to support community engagement, improve intelligence sharing, and strengthen trust between residents and the police.

Security officials noted that public cooperation remains critical in addressing violent crime, especially through timely reporting of suspicious activities.

The police added that the new structure is expected to improve coordination between communities and security operatives in addressing safety challenges.

Authorities have urged residents to work closely with the unit as it begins full operations across the state.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
