OSUN POLL: INEC FLAGS 385 FLASHPOINTS, 200 DIFFICULT TERRAINS
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has identified 385 flashpoints and 200 difficult terrains across Osun State as part of its preparations for the forthcoming governorship election.
According to the commission, the assessment is intended to strengthen election planning, improve logistics, and enhance security deployment to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
INEC said the identified flashpoints will receive special attention from security agencies to prevent violence, voter intimidation, and other activities capable of disrupting the election.
The commission also noted that the difficult terrains have been factored into its logistics strategy to ensure the timely delivery of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials.
Security agencies have assured residents that adequate personnel will be deployed across the state to maintain law and order before, during, and after the polls.
INEC urged political parties, candidates, and supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
Election observers have welcomed the early identification of high-risk areas, describing it as a proactive step toward improving election management.
Civil society organisations also called on voters to remain peaceful and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent, free, fair, and credible election that reflects the will of the people.
Preparations are expected to intensify in the coming days as stakeholders work together to ensure a successful electoral exercise.
