OSUN POLL: POLICE CONDUCT ROUTE MARCH AS INEC DISTRIBUTES MATERIALS
Officers of the Nigeria Police Force on Friday conducted a route march across Osogbo, the Osun State capital, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The exercise involved both armed and unarmed police personnel who moved through major roads and parts of the state capital as part of efforts to demonstrate security preparedness ahead of the poll.
The route march was aimed at reassuring residents of the readiness of security agencies to maintain law and order before, during and after the election.
The development came as preparations intensified across Osun State, with security operatives deployed to strategic locations ahead of the governorship election.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission commenced the distribution of non-sensitive electoral materials at its Osogbo Local Government Area office on Ilobu Road on Friday.
The distribution formed part of INEC’s preparations to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the election.
Residents across the state are expected to head to the polls on Saturday to elect the next governor of Osun State amid heightened security and increased political activities.
The police route march and deployment of security personnel are part of broader measures to prevent disruptions and maintain peace throughout the electoral process.
