Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has dismissed corruption allegations from the opposition, insisting that those behind the claims are only seeking settlement, recognition, or political relevance ahead of future elections.

Governor Otti made the remarks in Aba on Thursday during the Aba Stakeholders’ Security Trust Fund fundraising luncheon, where he addressed members of the business community.

He reassured residents that under his watch, Abia funds are safe and will not be mismanaged.

“Go and sleep. Your money is safe. It cannot go missing under my watch,” Otti told the people of Abia.

According to the Governor, the so-called opposition in the state is not a serious force, but rather individuals pursuing personal interests.

“I can assure you that in Abia, there is nothing like opposition. Some people just want to be recognised, some want to be settled, some want negotiation, while others are preparing for elections,” he said.

Highlighting his administration’s progress, Otti announced that the newly reconstructed Port Harcourt Road in Aba, along with six other roads, will be commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on October 3rd.

He also revealed that the state government has completed documentation to restart work at the long-abandoned Enyimba Hotel, Aba, a project expected to boost economic activity in the state.

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Leo Ike Okoye, commended the Governor for improvements in security, infrastructure, and water supply across the state. He urged the people of Abia to continue supporting Otti’s administration to sustain the progress.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
