OTTI COMMENDS IGP FOR DEPLOYING OFFICERS TO SERVE IN THEIR HOME STATES
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has praised the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his policy of posting police officers to serve in their home states, describing it as commendable and beneficial.
The Governor made the remarks on Thursday while receiving 31 newly commissioned police officers from Abia State, part of the 7th Regular Course of the Nigerian Police Academy, who have been posted back to serve in their home state.
Governor Otti said the policy is “fantastic,” noting that indigenous officers are familiar with the terrain, culture, and people of their states, which enhances their effectiveness.
He explained, “If officers were posted to a place like Maiduguri, adapting to the culture and language could be challenging. Here in their home state, communication is seamless, and they already understand the environment, which offers many advantages.”
He also commended the IGP and his team for implementing the policy, describing it as “a great initiative that we wholeheartedly welcome.”
Emphasizing his administration’s commitment to security, Governor Otti urged the officers to remain focused, uphold integrity, and avoid unwholesome practices. He assured them that their welfare concerns would be addressed.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, ASP Irozuru Somtochukwu Justice said the officers paid a courtesy visit to the Governor after being commissioned and posted back to Abia State.
