OUTSOURCING OPERATORS SEEK REFORMS TO POSITION NIGERIA GLOBALLY
Operators in Nigeria’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector have called for comprehensive policy reforms to strengthen the industry and position the country as a major global player in digital services.
At a stakeholders’ forum, industry leaders highlighted the need for improved infrastructure, skills development programmes, and incentives to attract more international clients. “Nigeria has the talent and youthful population to become a BPO powerhouse. What we need are the right policies and infrastructure,” one operator said.
The group urged the government to address challenges such as unreliable power supply, high internet costs, and regulatory bottlenecks that currently limit sector growth.
The call comes as several African countries intensify efforts to capture a larger share of the global outsourcing market.
Stakeholders believe that with the right reforms, Nigeria could generate significant employment and foreign exchange earnings from the sector.
