OVER 150 BANDITS KILLED, 125 STOLEN CATTLE RECOVERED AFTER KANO ATTACK
In a decisive counter-offensive, a Joint Task Force comprising the Nigerian military, the DSS, Police, and other paramilitary agencies pursued bandits responsible for attacks in parts of Kano between Thursday night and Friday morning. The operation led security forces to Kogoro town in Katsina State, where about 150 bandits were reportedly killed and 125 stolen cows recovered.
Confirming the development, the chairman of the security committee for Faruruwa, Shanono, and Bagwai Local Government Areas, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, praised the military, Police, DSS, and other paramilitary forces for the operation.
“I can confirm that the Brigade Commander of Bukavor Barracks, the Kano Police Commissioner, and the DSS Director in Kano led the operation, pursuing the bandits to Kogoro, where they were all neutralized and the stolen cattle recovered,” Bagobiri said.
He added that the operation effectively ended the persistent bandit encroachments in the area, which had become one of their routes for cattle rustling.
The attacks in Shanono Local Government Area involved hundreds of motorcycle-riding bandits, who killed a civilian and stole over 150 cows. Security forces responded swiftly, engaging the attackers and recovering the livestock.
Bagobiri commended the coordinated efforts of the military, DSS, Police, and other security agencies, and expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the new Defence Minister, General Musa (retd), for their commitment to ensuring peace in Kano and across northern Nigeria.
