OWORONSHOKI RESIDENTS PROTEST DEMOLITION OF HOMES ON 3RD MAINLAND BRIDGE
There was heavy traffic on the 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Monday morning as residents of Oworonshoki staged a protest over the demolition of their homes by the state government.
The demonstrators, who stormed the bridge at dawn, accused the Lagos State Government of carrying out demolitions without giving them proper notice or providing compensation. According to them, the exercise has left many families homeless and struggling to survive.
Armed with placards, the residents called for accountability and demanded immediate intervention from the authorities.
Their protest, however, caused a massive gridlock, leaving motorists stranded for hours and forcing many to seek alternative routes.
Security operatives were later deployed to the scene to restore order and ensure the free flow of traffic.
The residents vowed to continue pressing for their rights until the government responds to their concerns.
