OYO ABDUCTION: FCT TEACHERS PROTEST INSECURITY, DEMAND SAFER SCHOOLS

Teachers under the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in the Federal Capital Territory have staged a protest over rising insecurity in schools, following recent abductions and attacks in parts of the country, including Oyo.

The protesting teachers called on the government to urgently strengthen security around educational institutions and ensure safer learning environments for students and staff.

They expressed concern that repeated incidents of school-related insecurity are creating fear among educators and disrupting academic activities across affected regions.

According to the union, immediate action is needed to prevent further attacks, including improved surveillance, deployment of security personnel, and stronger emergency response systems in schools.

The teachers also urged authorities in Nigeria to treat school security as a national priority, stressing that education cannot thrive in an unsafe environment.

The protest adds to growing pressure on government agencies to address the recurring issue of abductions targeting students and school communities.

Union leaders said they will continue advocacy efforts until concrete measures are taken to guarantee the safety of schools nationwide.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
