OYO DISTRIBUTES TEXTBOOKS, SCHOOL BAGS, SANDALS TO STUDENTS
The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), in partnership with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has flagged off the 2024 FGN-UBEC/SUBEB Intervention Programme in Ibadan, providing textbooks, learning materials, school bags, and sandals to public primary and junior secondary school students.
OYOSUBEB Chairman, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, said the materials, including Mathematics, English, Science, and Technology textbooks, exercise books, pencils, and 40,000 Continuous Assessment Cards, are for active classroom use to improve learning outcomes.
Dr. Aisha Garba, UBEC Executive Secretary, described the programme as a reinforcement of quality, inclusive education aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda, adding that 15 million school bags, sandals, and writing materials are being distributed nationwide to reduce out-of-school children and ease families’ financial burdens.
SUBEB Executive Board member, Dr. Olukemi Adeosun, and Nigeria Union of Teachers Chairman, Comrade Raji Oladimeji, urged students and teachers to make proper use of the materials to strengthen education in the state.
