OYO GOVT APPEALS FOR CALM IN OJOO AS VIOLENCE CLAIMS LIVES
The Oyo State Government has appealed to youths and residents of Ojoo in Akinyele Local Government Area to embrace peace following a violent clash that resulted in the loss of at least two lives.
Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, who visited the area on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, urged all parties involved to sheath their swords and allow security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. He assured residents that the government is on top of the situation and committed to restoring lasting peace in the community.
The clash, reportedly between rival youth groups, has heightened tensions in the area. Security operatives have been deployed to prevent further breakdown of law and order, while authorities are working to identify and prosecute those responsible.
The government called on community leaders, elders, and youths to collaborate in de-escalating the situation and fostering dialogue. Officials warned that any further violence would not be tolerated and stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence for development.
Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies. The appeal comes as part of broader efforts by the state government to address communal disputes and promote stability across Oyo State.
