OYO POLICE ARREST 49-YEAR-OLD MAN OVER ALLEGED DEFILEMENT OF 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old man, Peter Adubi, for the alleged defilement of a 13-year-old girl. The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on Friday in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.
According to the statement, the suspect was apprehended after the victim’s guardian reported the matter to the police on January 8, 2026, around 8:50 p.m. The guardian reportedly became concerned after noticing unusual sexual-related behavioural changes in the girl.
During gentle questioning, the girl revealed that she had been sexually abused in 2022 while living with her mother in the Molade area of Ibadan. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect, Adubi, allegedly committed the offence during that time. This prompted immediate medical intervention to verify the claim.
The minor was subsequently taken to the hospital for a medical examination, which confirmed sexual abuse. This evidence strengthened the case against the suspect and guided the next stages of the investigation.
Following the confirmation, Adubi was taken into custody. The police also visited the alleged crime scene. The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gender Desk, for a discreet and thorough investigation.
The Police Command assured residents that justice would be diligently pursued and urged the public to remain vigilant, reporting any incidents of sexual abuse promptly. They emphasized that community cooperation is crucial for protecting children and ensuring a safer society.
